The New Trend Of Vintage Christmas Ornaments

With all of the hastening ballyhoo and ultra advanced engineering of this age people sometime become nostalgic for 'simpler' times - especially around the Christmas holidays. Norman Rockwell's imaginary - marvelous paintings of Victorian villages under the snow,  children eagerly waiting for the coming of the Great Saint Nicholas while happy carolers singing. The thoughts of eggnog and dressing a beautiful tree make our hearts feel merry. It is for these very reasons many people want vintage Christmas ornaments for decorating their homes. Unfortunately, really vintage ornaments are not only very expensive but also very hard to acquire.

Fifteen years ago, the nostalgic trend for items from the past caused a boom in a new kind of industry: the artistic production of vintage Christmas ornaments. A large number of artisans through online and regular retail stores now offer the opportunity to purchase that kind of classic Christmas ornaments, made out of silver, tin, paper, cardboard, cotton, etc. Hand-blown, one-of-a-kind glass ornaments to dazzle the eye, vintage 1920s looking tin ornaments engraved with the early renditions of the Great Saint Nick, and softly shining bubble lights in an array of beautiful colors.

Maybe an old fashioned way tin tree top star or arrow on the top of the tree painted with a view coming from Norman Rockwell's imagination or a silver and gold foil angel.

The soft athmosphere of a warm house, the warm flames of the hearth reflecting into the glass "icicles" hanged on the Christmas tree along with a handmade garland of popcorn. These tiny "present" looking ornaments and other gold, silver, glass, tin, cotton or even carboard decorations that look like apples, vegetables, birds... There was a time when people would put tiny candles in holders just made for such a use all over the tree. Since this use has proven to be a rather risky fire hazard there are alternatives available that give the old timey candle aspect without the open flame.

Wreaths made of foil and tin with pearls or angels attached attached are now available in addition to the even more traditional wreaths made of pine boughs and holly with gold pine cones and leaves dried flowers. I personally would choose a lovely vintage garland made of thin pine branches and decorated with pine cones and dried flowers rather than a artificial one.

For many of us, Christmas is a period of the year to slow down and remember a time when things weren't so harried. Nostalgia creeps in and makes us wistful for a rather romanticized age when wintertime was still a time of rest for all creatures - including all of us rushed and harried humans. The beautiful and gorgeous vintage Christmas decorations seem to have the power to revive for many of us the delicate and warm atmosphere of yester-years. So break out the Norman Rockwell decorations and have yourself a vintage Merry little Christmas and a Happy New Year.
